Botswana

In many ways Botswana offers the quintessential safari experience.

Okavango Delta
Immersing yourself in the incredible, unique ecosystem of the Okavango Delta is at the heart of most Botswana safaris. In the dry season, from June-October, the visual contrast between the browns of the surrounding bush and the lush green of the phenomenal Okavango and Linyanti wetlands makes for a spectacular background to this amazing wildlife haven. Visit in the “emerald season” at the start of the rains in late November or December to see a remarkable transformation in color. Antelope begin giving birth and migrant bird species arrive, almost doubling the number of bird species.

Makgadikgadi Salt Pans
Less well known but dramatic in its own right, the massive Makgadikgadi Salt Pans offer seasonal drama, with an impressive migration of zebras to the area in the wet season between December and March. Another highlight here is the habituated meerkats that you can visit in their natural habitat. If you sit quietly, they may even scramble up onto your head to get a better lookout point for predators!

Tuli Block
A secret area, offering some of the only geological diversity in Botswana, is the Tuli Block in Southern Botswana. Here you will find dramatic rocky outcrops and tree-lined river beds. This area is particularly good for photography and offers consistently good predator sightings year-round.

Private concessions in Botswana can offer an incredibly exclusive safari experience, with very few guests in vast conserved areas.
