Witnessing the power of the Victoria Falls is truly impactful. The falls span roughly a mile—the widest in the world—and walking along the trail on the cliff opposite the falls, with the water thundering down just a few feet away, is spectacular. The tourist town of Victoria Falls is a good starting point for a safari, giving you a few days to recover from international travel while taking in these amazing Falls.

If you want to be on the river and have a wildlife experience, Matetsi Game Reserve upstream of Victoria Falls is a great option, offering game viewing and relaxation on the water with access to Victoria Falls.

Hwange National Park is a great all round bush experience, offering excellent elephant sightings year round, as the waterholes are pumped, ensuring elephants have all the water they need. There are also good opportunities for engaging with local communities through an excellent community rhino conservation project here. Lions are often seen here, as well as cheetahs and occasionally leopards and painted dogs. Buffalo and special antelope sightings such as eland, sable and roan are also frequently seen on game drives. Hwange is a great location for walking safaris.
